Mechanical Project Engineer - (Anaerobic Digestion)
About Us: Marches Biogas is based in Ludlow, Shropshire. We are the UK's leading provider of anaerobic digestion solutions for agriculture and waste management industries with more than 30 years of AD experience.
We also offer AD consultancy services including DSEAR assessments, site surveys, process and equipment selection reviews, design and implementation of plant upgrades as well as delivering major AD plant upgrades for our clients, including direct work with the water utilities. We also deliver mechanical, biological and operational support for many AD plants within the UK.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing projects through the whole life-cycle, from proposal to closedown.
* Leading the design and delivery team, coordinating plant expansions, upgrades, and new-build schemes.
* Preparing input into initial proposals and draft construction programmes, setting budgets for materials and resources.
* Client liaison and ensuring all aspects of the project are managed through solution identification, detailed design, construction, commissioning, handover and closedown.
* Managing team resources, completing key deliverables, engaging with equipment suppliers and M&E contractors.
* Ensuring procurement aligns with project budgets, monitoring cost and programme, and managing commercial and contractual elements.
* Delivering the project through all phases: design, procurement, installation, commissioning.
* Maintaining contract monitoring documents, reporting to directors and client.
* Reviewing commencement information from client and ensuring adequacy.
* Overseeing orders for equipment and subcontractor placements.
* Obtaining approvals to proceed with project phases.
* Optimising whole-life costs and ensuring compliance with best practice, policies, H&S legislation.
* Ensuring technical scopes are developed and meet milestones for accurate costs and robust designs.
* Collaborating with Construction Coordinator to assess constructability.
* Managing project contractually, including notices and applications per contract conditions.
* Managing, mitigating, and disseminating project risk.
* Managing 3rd party issues and interfaces.
* Preparing Risk Assessment and Method Statement documentation.

Skills and Experience
* BTEC / HNC Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* Experience using Autodesk 3D and 2D CAD packages
* Ability to develop conceptual arrangement drawings and high‑level architectural images during proposals stage
* Ability to develop detailed pipework and mechanical support details
* Adaptation of plans to changing circumstances
* Follow designs from outline phase through to site installation and commissioning
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Prepared to travel
* Full driving license
* Knowledge of legislative safety & design standards
* Good problem solving skills
* Team player
* Autonomous and able to work to tight deadlines
