Job summary
In partnership with Canvey Island Primary Care Network, GP Healthcare Alliance (a federation of GP practices in Castle Point and Rochford) is hosting an innovative service to recruit a dedicated practice-based paramedic to the network. This is a full-time post, working hours per week. The successful candidate will work across all six surgeries within our primary care network (PCN): Oaklands Surgery, Third Avenue Doctors' Surgery, The Island Surgery, The Surgery - Hawkesbury Road, The Community Practice and Canvey Village Surgery.
We envisage that the successful candidate will adopt a highly proactive and collaborative approach in helping to develop this role further and in exploring their own development needs.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide a high-quality, cost-effective service to the patients of the PCN: undertaking clinical assessment, diagnosing and evaluation of care while within working defined procedures and protocols set by the clinical nurse manager/clinical director.
2. To be responsible for seeing patients, in practice sites and in their place of residence, who present with a wide range of minor illnesses, urgent and same day requests for treatment and chronic disease management, providing care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care.
3. To demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, including assessment and diagnostic skills. There will be the need to prioritise and triage the needs of patients accordingly making any necessary referrals for investigations in the appropriate manner.
All candidates should be qualified and registered paramedics, with experience in an acute response/emergency setting. They should be confident to triage, take comprehensive history, examine, diagnose, treat and refer for a range of minor injuries, illnesses and infections as required. Working knowledge of SystmOne would be advantageous, as would experience of ordering and interpreting tests on ICE.

17. Educated to degree/diploma level in paramedicine, or equivalent experience.

18. A healthcare professional, with an active registration with the relevant regulatory bodies.
19. Completed two years consolidation of learning period as a newly qualified paramedic.
20. A minimum of three years experience as a band 6 (equivalent) paramedic.
21. Working towards developing masters level or equivalent capability in paramedic areas of practice and has completed and been signed off formally within the clinical pillar competencies of the paramedic FCP/AP roadmap to practice.
22. Experience of working as a senior healthcare professional, undertaking home visits and/or experience in an emergency setting or clinic base.
