Senior Automation Engineer
Location: Liverpool, UK (hybrid)
Engagement: Independent Contractor | 3–6 month contract – to start ASAP
Role Summary
We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to support the design, improvement and maintenance of automation frameworks and test tooling across delivery teams. This role is suited to someone with strong hands-on automation experience, solid coding ability, and a good understanding of CI/CD and quality engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Build, maintain and improve test automation frameworks
* Write clean, scalable, reusable automation code using sound OOP principles
* Support CI/CD integration for automated testing
* Review code, resolve issues and contribute to framework improvements
* Help improve code quality, maintainability and test coverage
* Work closely with technical teams and provide guidance where needed
Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong experience in test automation engineering at senior level
* Solid object-oriented programming skills
* Experience building or enhancing automation frameworks
* Good CI/CD pipeline experience
* Strong code review, troubleshooting and refactoring skills
* Knowledge of scalable, maintainable test design principles
* Comfortable working with stakeholders and technical teams
Desirable
* Experience with static code analysis tools such as SonarQube
* Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience
