Job Title: Clinical Research Support Role
This unique position involves direct patient interaction, including recruiting participants for studies, obtaining consent, preparing them for imaging procedures, and collecting samples. You will also support xenon gas manufacturing for lung imaging studies under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). The role offers the chance to contribute to innovative research using techniques such as hyperpolarised xenon MRI, focused ultrasound, and AI, focusing on conditions like interstitial lung disease, pneumothorax, and lung cancer.
Main duties include supporting patient assessment, recruitment, and care in clinical trials, working closely with trial teams and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure accurate data collection and documentation. Responsibilities encompass identifying eligible participants, gaining consent, enrolling patients, performing procedures like blood sampling, recording vital signs, conducting breathing tests, and providing education and support throughout their research participation. Training will be provided, including preparation of xenon gas under GMP guidelines.
To succeed, you should have excellent organisational and communication skills, the ability to work independently and in a team, and a proactive approach. Candidates should have or be willing to acquire knowledge of research protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and relevant regulations. A patient-facing background such as a nursing assistant or clinical support worker, along with a life sciences background, strong communication skills, and attention to detail, are desirable.
