Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our cost management team. You will provide advice on costs involved in building projects – site preparation, construction labour, material and plant costs, fitting‑out costs, professional charges, taxes and likely running costs of new buildings.
About the Role
You will be responsible for providing advice on costs involved in building projects – site preparation, construction labour, material and plant costs, fitting‑out costs, professional charges, taxes and likely running costs of new buildings. The role will require you to be the key point of contact with our prestigious clients therefore a high level of communication skills and commercial awareness are essential for being successful in this role.
Responsibilities
* Cost Planning (including use of Cost Ex) at various RIBA stages – producing preliminary and detailed cost estimates (from feasibility through to detailed design)
* Pre‑Contract services – providing advice on procurement strategy, overall tendering process, contract arrangements, negotiation/ agreement of a Contract Sum (experience of two‑stage tendering an advantage), prepare tender documents, advising clients on tenders when received, prepare contract documentation
* Post‑Contract services – providing advice on contractual matters / procedures, valuing completed work and approving progress payments, monitoring changes in design and measuring value and negotiating variations, budget management and cost reporting to the client, negotiating final accounts
* Working closely with the team and mentoring/working with graduates
* Client / Principal Team member facing
* Developing existing and new client contacts and relationships
Qualifications & Experience
* Relevant degree or similar
* MRICS preferred but not essential
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with extensive experience you can evidence
* Articulate capable of establishing and maintaining strong client relationships
* Commercially aware with excellent negotiation and organisational skills
* Sound knowledge of JCT Contracts and / or NEC Contracts
* Working collaboratively within a team
