This isn't a standard classroom assistant role; it is a position for those who understand that behind every challenging behaviour is a communication need. You will work within a PRU environment, providing the stability and structure these young people require to re-engage with their education.

* Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
* Comprehensive professional development and training opportunities, including specialist SEN interventions and strategies.
* Dedicated Randstad consultant support for career guidance and opportunities.
* Long-term placements available (6 weeks plus).

Your Responsibilities

* Supporting the delivery of tailored learning activities designed for SEMH students.
* Implementing consistent behaviour management strategies to maintain a safe learning environment.
* Working one-to-one with students to de-escalate crisis situations and promote emotional regulation.
* Assisting the Class Teacher in monitoring progress and adapting resources to meet individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
* Building professional, trusting relationships with students who may have had negative experiences with formal education.
* Facilitating small group interventions to improve social skills and classroom engagement.
* Collaborating with the wider school staff, including therapists and SENCOs, to ensure holistic support.
* Providing detailed feedback on student engagement and academic participation during staff briefings.

Requirements

* Previous experience working within an SEMH or PRU setting is highly desirable.
* Confidence in managing complex and challenging behaviours effectively.
* Availability for full-time hours (Monday to Friday) to ensure consistency for the students.
* A calm, patient, and non-judgemental approach to student support.
* Strong communication skills to liaise with both staff and vulnerable young people.
* The ability to adapt quickly to changing situations within a fast-paced school environment.
* Resilience and the commitment to supporting long-term student development. xsngvjr
