About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate, adaptable and committed Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant specialist setting in Alnwick that supports pupils aged 2–19 with a wide range of needs, including Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).
Working alongside a skilled and supportive team, you’ll play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop the social and emotional tools they need to thrive—both in school and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored support to pupils across the curriculum, both in class and in small group or 1:1 settings
* Assist with implementing EHCP targets, communication strategies, and behaviour support plans
* Support the development of life skills, emotional regulation and independence
* Use low-arousal, trauma-informed approaches to help pupils manage anxiety or behavioural challenges
* Contribute to a calm, structured, and nurturing learning environment
* Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach
* Help pupils engage positively with routines, transitions and peer relationships

* Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, ASC and/or SLD (in schools, care or community settings)
* A calm, patient and empathetic approach with strong relationship-building skills
* Understanding of communication differences, sensory needs and emotional triggers
* Willingness to learn and reflect as part of a dedicated team
* A genuine belief in every child’s potential
* Drivers or those able to reliably commute to Alnwick are strongly encouraged to apply due to the school’s location
