A growing and highly respected engineering business is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join its expanding technical team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on bespoke automation and special purpose machinery projects for globally recognised manufacturing customers within high-performance industrial sectors.

The RoleAs a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing engineered solutions for bespoke machinery and automated systems. Projects will vary significantly in size and complexity, giving you exposure to a broad range of mechanical engineering challenges.
Responsibilities will include:
Producing 3D CAD models for special purpose machinery and automated systems
Creating manufacturing, assembly, and installation drawings
Supporting full design lifecycle activities from concept through to delivery
Participating in design reviews and technical discussions
Working closely with manufacturing and project teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
Supporting prototype development, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives
Contributing to innovative engineering solutions across multiple live projectsRequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
A minimum of 5 years’ experience within mechanical design engineering
Strong 3D CAD experience (Inventor experience beneficial but not essential)
Experience designing machinery, automation equipment, tooling, jigs, or mechanical systems
Good understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles
Ability to create detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Experience within automotive, automation, industrial machinery, or special purpose machinery sectors advantageousAdditional experience in pneumatics, machinery safety standards, or hands-on assembly/manufacturing would also be beneficial.
