Gatwick Construction Ltd is an established and growing business providing specialised construction services to the transport and utility sectors. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Accounts professional to join our Gatwick-based office team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a commercial mindset and extensive accounting experience incorporating a thorough understanding and experience of Purchase, Sales, and Cash Book ledgers up to Trial Balance. The right candidate will have the opportunity to develop their career within a secure, supportive, and growing company.
The Role
You will take ownership of the full range of transactional accounting activities, maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records. This includes managing Purchase, Sales, and Cash Book ledgers through to Trial Balance. You will ensure all processes are carried out efficiently, accurately, and in line with company procedures, supporting effective financial management across the business. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will play a key role in supporting the wider finance function and contributing to the continued success of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage Sales and Purchase Ledgers
· Respond to and action outstanding tasks in the account's inbox
· Perform bank and payment reconciliations (including company credit cards)
· Support the month-end close process
· Complete weekly subcontractor timesheets and payroll imports
· Compile and submit the monthly CIS return
· Assist with PAYE payroll transactions
· Issue invoices, post receipts, and prepare debtor reports
· Process supplier reconciliations and payment runs
· Maintain and update the company business tracker
· Assist in applications for payment and prepare sales reports
· Conduct bank reconciliations and review/record expenses
· Support ad-hoc financial analysis projects
· General office duties and administrative support as required
What We are Looking For:
· Commercially aware mindset
· Experience in a construction accounting role (preferred)
· Strong knowledge of ledgers (Purchase, Sales, Cash Book up to Trial Balance)
· Experience of and familiarity with Intuit QBOL accounting software
· Confident user of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
· AAT qualification
· Educated to GCSE Grade 5 (C) in Maths and English
· Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to use initiative
· Team player with a proactive approach
