The Role
As a Substation Fitter, you will be responsible for the installation, wiring and fitting of substation secondary systems on projects across the UK. This includes control and protection panels, switchgear control wiring, marshalling kiosks, inter-panel cabling and terminations, ensuring all works are completed to a high standard. You will support commissioning engineers during site activities, assist with point-to-point and continuity checks, and contribute to safe, efficient project handovers. The role involves regular liaison with client and OEM representatives, maintaining accurate site documentation and upholding strict health and safety standards at all times.
Experience Required
Proven experience as a Substation Fitter or Wireman on MV/HV projects, including switchgear control wiring and protection/control panels.
Strong practical skills in cable installation, glanding, termination, panel wiring, cable dressing and point-to-point checking.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and termination schedules, maintaining accurate mark-ups and site records.
Solid understanding of site health and safety practices, including RAMS, permit-to-work systems and isolation procedures.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide, with good communication skills to work effectively alongside clients and OEM site teams
