With the completion of our new STEM building we will be introducing DT into the curriculum for Years 7 & 8 from September 2026 and seek our founding Head of Department to lead this exciting new provision at Channing.We are seeking a Head of Design Technology who will be both visionary and pragmatic in shaping the future of this new department at Channing. This is an exceptional opportunity to establish Design Technology from the ground up, with significant influence over the direction, curriculum and physical learning environment.The successful candidate will be a leader with a compelling vision for what Design Technology can be in a girls’ school and how it will empower our students with creativity, technical literacy and real-world problem-solving skills. We are not prescriptive about the form Design Technology should take, whether that be product design, engineering, digital design or an innovative multidisciplinary approach.In our new STEM building, the postholder will play a key strategic role in determining the layout, equipment and technologies required in the fitting out of the new Design Technology space. We are seeking someone who can think ambitiously about the future of the subject while also being practical and resourceful in creating spaces that are safe, flexible and inspiring.This is a unique chance to build a department that reflects the postholder’s educational philosophy and expertise.
