Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Provide advice and support to staff and staff-side representatives in devising and implementing reasonable and practicable protocols, procedures, and emergency fire plans.
* Advise on the implications of current and new legislation, monitor compliance, and ensure positive steps are taken to implement requirements. Focus areas include maintenance standards, working practices, employee involvement, and environmental conditions.
* Ensure that adequate records are maintained in accordance with legislative requirements, policies, codes of practice, and procedures.
* Disseminate relevant information to managers and employees, ensuring a robust audit trail demonstrating appropriate actions have been taken.
* Provide highly specialised advice and guidance; support the Trust's managers and staff in managing fire safety to demonstrate compliance with the REGULATORY REFORM (FIRE SAFETY) ORDER 2005.
* Offer specialised advice when planning new facilities or modifying existing ones, ensuring all legislative requirements are considered.
* Participate in and lead emergency and unplanned event responses, supporting the Trust's emergency planning and response efforts.
* Investigate, report, and ensure management takes appropriate action in response to potential breaches of Fire Safety Regulations or legal issues.
* Participate in safety groups and incident investigations as needed.

Person specification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria: Fire engineering/fire safety knowledge from degree and specialist courses, graduate membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers or similar, Level 4 Fire Risk Assessment Diploma.
Desirable criteria: NEBOSH General Certificate, Principles in HTM05-01 Passive Fire Protection Level 3, Fire Door Inspection Level 3.
Knowledge
Essential criteria: Experience in root cause analysis, quality initiatives, audits, proficiency in Microsoft Office, excellent report writing, and presentation skills.
Desirable criteria: Analytical and problem-solving skills related to complex situations and strategic improvements.
