This is a great opportunity to join our team and continue the excellent work in our condiments manufacturing facility located in Peterborough, UK.
Our vision is to build a sustainable, innovative McCormick factory of the future to support our Flavour Solutions customers.
Due to expansion of our Engineering team, we are currently looking for a Maintenance Engineer who will actively contribute to the development of one of McCormick's key manufacturing plants. This role involves line monitoring, fault finding, and problem-solving to maximize plant and equipment utilization by minimizing downtime through scheduled, planned, or ad hoc maintenance, and continuous improvement.
Main Responsibilities
1. Continuously assess company plant and equipment for efficiency and purpose, implementing improvements to optimize output and reporting non-compliances.
2. Help reduce the company's "Carbon Footprint" by efficient resource utilization, e.g., Energy Usage, Waste Disposal.
3. Work closely with the production team to enable timely plant start-up.
4. Work safely, complying with Health and Safety regulations.
5. Study production schedules and estimate work hours required for job completion.
6. Coordinate activities with other supervisors and technicians.
7. Prepare estimates, requisitions, and inspect equipment.
8. Manage small projects and assist with major projects.
9. Conduct audits for compliance with AIB / EFSIS / GMP Standards.
10. Understand and adhere to food safety legislation, including HACCP.
11. Collaborate with Production and Quality teams to improve operating practices and enhance product quality and customer service.
12. Ensure compliance with Company Quality, Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Environmental standards.
13. Organize work activities to prevent product contamination.
14. Ensure product safety is maintained at all times.
15. Coordinate activities with outside Engineers, Contractors, and Vendors.
16. Complete all work timely and meet deadlines.
17. Maintain flexibility in engineering duties, including providing cover for other functions.
Candidate Profile
1. Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant Engineering Discipline.
2. Experience in the food or consumer products industry with a strong record of engineering skills and continuous learning.
3. Understanding of inter-discipline skills and multi-skilling preferred.
4. Knowledge of food handling safety practices.
5. Awareness of HACCP, PUWER, LOLER, and COSHH preferred.
6. Knowledge of AC/DC drives and control equipment.
7. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with suppliers and internal teams.
8. Proficiency in MS Word, Lotus Notes, and Excel.
9. Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
10. Ability to interpret schematic diagrams.
11. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
12. Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
13. Energetic and driven to complete tasks efficiently.
