Project Archivist – Museum of English Rural Life
Closing date: 19th November 2025. This fixed‑term role (1.0 FTE, end 30 October 2026) is funded by the British Film Institute Screen Heritage Fund.
Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated candidate with an interest in preserving archival film. The Project Archivist will be responsible for appraising and cataloguing archival films of the Richard Watts collection, manage the digitisation process of 80‑100 films provided by a third party, and assist in identifying film for a wide range of audiences. The postholder will work alongside the Project Engagement Officer, also funded by this project.
Key Responsibilities
* Appraise and catalogue archival films of the Richard Watts collection.
* Manage the digitisation process of 80‑100 films.
* Assist with identifying film for a wide range of audiences.
* Collaborate with the Project Engagement Officer.
Qualifications
* Higher Education degree or equivalent.
* Relevant professional qualification (in archives studies/management/administration) or extensive archival experience.
* Familiarity with archive cataloguing methods, systems and standards.
