An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the District Nursing Service in North Shields, North Tyneside, for a full-time Community Staff Nurse position.
We are looking for an enthusiastic staff nurse to join our district nursing team in North Shields. This is a fantastic opportunity to become a member of a team committed to providing patient-centered care to patients in their own homes, residential care settings, and clinics. Community staff nurses work both autonomously and as part of a team, reporting directly to their line manager, the community nursing team lead. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for a diverse group of patients with various conditions and health needs.
Key duties include:
1. Development and delivery of health and social care programs.
2. Providing care and support to patients with terminal illnesses and their families, including emotional and bereavement support.
3. Performing skilled nursing procedures such as wound management, palliative care, and catheterization.
4. Conducting diagnostic tests like Ankle Brachial Pressure Index using Doppler and interpreting results for further action.
5. Performing procedures requiring dexterity, such as venipuncture, injections, and suture removal.
6. Interpreting test results and communicating findings to patients, explaining aspects of care, and addressing concerns.
7. Maintaining high standards of professional practice and sharing approaches with colleagues.
8. Upholding a duty of care to patients, carers, and colleagues through personal and professional accountability.
We serve three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham, along with smaller community hospitals and clinics across the region. Our services aim to give people greater choice and control over their care to promote independence and reduce hospital admissions when appropriate. Community Staff Nurses are vital members of the district nursing team, delivering clinical care to patients with acute and chronic health issues. The role involves performing clinical procedures and assessments in primary healthcare and community settings.
The Community Staff Nurse collaborates with patients and carers, providing health education and nursing care within their scope of practice. The post involves working largely independently, with access to advice when needed, and supervising auxiliary and student nurses.
The role also involves demonstrating compassionate and inclusive leadership to foster a collective leadership culture within the trust, engaging, enabling, and empowering others, and promoting teamwork and collaboration.
