Job Overview
Pharmacy Technician – Dispensary Service (Band 4, Permanent). This role is based in the Pharmacy Department, RLH, Liverpool. The job is full‑time (37.5 hrs/week) with a salary of £27,485 – £30,162 per annum (pro‑rata).

Main Duties
* Carry out dispensing of prescriptions, including extemporaneous and controlled drugs in line with safe systems of work.
* Participate in daily stock checks, adjusting stock levels, escalating discrepancies to the Senior Technical Team.
* Process "stock to‑follows" and liaise with stores staff for ordering and out‑of‑stock medicines.
* Coordinate dispensing teams to ensure efficient workflow and prioritisation of critical medicines.
* Perform accuracy checks on assembled items such as cardiac arrest boxes and controlled drugs after competency training.
* Co‑operate in staff rotation within pharmacy departments (aseptic, out‑patient, etc.).
* Follow Good Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Practice guidelines and other regulatory requirements.
* Produce aseptic products and cytotoxic preparations under appropriate guidance.
* Provide ward “topping‑up” service on request.
* Maintain stock levels, ensure correct storage, and support turnover to preserve quality and potency.
* Maintain accurate records of controlled drugs, supplies, orders, and audits.
* Respond to routine and technical queries via telephone or face‑to‑face and refer as needed.
* Liaise with pharmacy team and ward staff to resolve issues and deliver best patient service.
* Offer patient counselling and medication instructions as directed by supervising pharmacists.
* Dispense clinical‑trial medicines following protocol, GCP guidelines, and European directives.
* Act as role model, mentor, and trainer for student technicians, pre‑registration pharmacists, and assistants.
* Attend and encourage participation in training courses for professional development.
* Assist in receiving and issuing goods, checking delivery notes and invoices.
* Participate in ward‑based stock audits and computerised stock‑control systems.
* Participate in pharmacy objectives set by Trust and governing bodies to meet clinical governance targets.
* Maintain Health & Safety and Data Protection compliance.
* Undertake any other related duties as required.
