Your role
The Manager of Engineering Operations (MEO) oversees all aspects of the site’s critical physical infrastructure and ensures that all activities carried out on the site are done with high quality and without negative impact on internal/external customers. The MEO provides technical expertise to plan, coordinate, and manage the Data Centre’s equipment, systems, and infrastructure to ensure operational excellence, with safety and risk reduction being of paramount importance.
What you’ll do
1. Provide strategic support and operational leadership as the deputy to the Data Centre Manager, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
2. Lead and mentor a team of Lead Engineers and Site Engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
3. Oversee all mechanical/electrical operations, maintenance, and energy management programs on-site, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
4. Act as the Senior Approved Person for the site, overseeing complex maintenance jobs and ensuring adherence to quality standards and safety protocols.
5. Plan, implement, coordinate, and oversee all mechanical/electrical operations, maintenance, and energy management programs on-site, ensuring risk is minimized and all works are compliant with safe systems of work.
6. Responsible for the initiation and management of jobs on the site, ensuring all activities conform to company policies, standards, and operating instructions.
7. Serve as the escalation point for all incidents that may disrupt services or breach SLAs, leading efforts to eliminate or reduce their impact.
8. Keep track of maintenance and customer activities, providing regular updates to the Data Centre Manager and Technical Operations planning.
9. Coordinate maintenance efforts and build relationships with critical vendors, tracking performance through KPIs and regular meetings.
What you’ll need
* Strong experience working in mission-critical mechanical & electrical environments within a large company, IT/Telecoms industry.
* Bachelor's degree in a technical/engineering field.
* Experience in data centres or similar environments is essential.
* Understanding of the engineering design and operational aspects of building systems.
* Knowledge of key infrastructure components of DCs (like UPSs, Generators, Cooling systems).
* Ability to read and work with electrical and mechanical diagrams.
* Experience with maintenance and maintenance systems.
* ITIL and/or ServiceNow experience is a plus.
* Ability to prepare and present relevant information to diverse audiences.
* Customer management experience within the IT, telecommunications, or data centre industry is a plus.
* Commitment, drive, adaptability, proactivity, and strong communication skills.
* Ability to act as a mentor to the Site Engineering Team.
