E&I Quantity Surveyor (Electrical & Instrumentation)
Location: UK (project‑based with regional travel)

A growing industrial contractor is looking to appoint an E&I Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of complex electrical and instrumentation (E&I) projects across the UK. This is a permanent role working closely with Project Managers and senior commercial leadership on fast‑paced, technically demanding industrial schemes.
The Role
You will take responsibility for the commercial control of E&I construction projects, supporting delivery from pre‑construction through to final account.
Key responsibilities include:
* Preparing and submitting monthly progress applications, capturing labour, materials, plant, equipment and escalation
* Carrying out detailed take‑offs from construction drawings, recording and managing changes throughout the project lifecycle
* Monitoring site progress and ensuring delays are identified, recorded and communicated, including cause & effect analysis
* Preparing and submitting early warnings, variations and change events for works outside agreed scope
* Identifying and managing commercial and contractual risks, maintaining a clear and current risk position
* Producing monthly commercial reports and maintaining full control of project cost and value
* Supporting contract reviews by providing accurate, relevant commercial data to project leadership teams
* Monitoring earned value, analysing weekly spend versus earned value and highlighting variances
* Supporting construction handover meetings and project close‑out activities
* Working with the Project Manager to prepare and manage project budgets, updating forecasts as required
* Preparing and maintaining cash flow forecasts, analysing timing of costs and revenues
* Monitoring overall project performance and supporting delivery teams with commercial insight
* Mentoring junior commercial staff where applicable
* Liaising with legal representatives when required to address contractual or commercial issues
* Proactively protecting margin and ensuring maximum profitability across projects under your control
* Compiling monthly reports for the Commercial Manager
* Ensuring recovery of loss and expense claims where applicable, in line with contract conditions
* Highlighting areas where target cost or sales are not being achieved and proposing corrective actions
* Undertaking any other reasonable duties as required
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
-Degree in Quantity Surveying and/or Electrical Engineering
-Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the E&I contracting environment
-Strong technical and commercial understanding of electrical and instrumentation installation projects
-Experience across contract development, award, administration and close‑out on multi‑discipline projects
-Confident preparing MTOs and compiling actual construction measures
-Strong working knowledge of FIDIC, ICE or similar contract forms
-High level of commercial awareness with a proactive, solutions‑focused approach
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Competent with Microsoft Excel and Word
-Eligible to work in the UK
Desirable:
-Electrical or E&I trade / technical background
-Experience working for recognised industrial or international contracting organisations
