Our team prides itself on maintaining high standards of client care, attention to detail, and collaborative working. We are seeking a capable and experienced Paralegal to join our growing Family Law department and contribute to the continued delivery of exceptional legal services.
Overview
We are looking for a proactive, highly organised and detail oriented Paralegal with mandatory prior experience in family law to support our solicitors across a broad range of privately funded family matters.
This is a fully office based position (5 days per week) in our East Croydon office. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast paced legal environment, managing competing deadlines, and handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and care.
Responsibilities to Include (but Are Not Limited To)
General Case Support
* Assist solicitors with a wide range of family law matters, including divorce, financial remedy proceedings, private children matters, and domestic abuse applications
* Manage case files from instruction through to conclusion
* Maintain regular communication with clients, counsel, courts, and third parties
* Ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements
Drafting & Documentation
* Draft legal correspondence, court applications, witness statements, and other legal documents
* Prepare bundles for court hearings
* Complete and file court forms accurately and within prescribed deadlines
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and hard copy filing systems
Administrative & Organisational Tasks
* Organise, maintain and archive files in accordance with regulatory and data protection requirements
* Manage diaries, court dates, and key deadlines
* Track case progress and update solicitors accordingly
* Assist with billing, time recording, and general administrative support
* Act as a professional point of contact for clients
* Liaise with HMCTS, barristers’ chambers, experts and other external parties
* Handle sensitive matters with discretion and empathy
Qualifications / Requirements
* Prior experience in family law is essential
* Previous experience working as a Paralegal within a UK law firm
* Strong understanding of family court procedures and documentation
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* High level of attention to detail and organisational ability
* Ability to prioritise tasks and manage a busy workload
* Professional, discreet, and client-focused approach
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
* Candidates with a Law degree, LPC, SQE (completed or in progress), or equivalent legal qualification are encouraged to apply.
