Freelance Midweight Branding & Packaging Designer (Bullboat Brands)

About Bullboat
Bullboat is a leading innovation tech distributor in Europe, working across multiple consumer brands and retail partners in the UK and internationally.
Alongside distribution, Bullboat owns and operates three in-house brands spanning women’s wellness tech, digital photography and pet tech. We build design-led, premium products and brands.
The role
You’ll work across Bullboat’s portfolio of brands to apply existing art direction across packaging, retail and brand assets.
This is an execution + craft role. The art direction and brand systems already exist — we’re looking for someone who can apply them flawlessly, efficiently, and with excellent taste.
Packaging & print production
* Adapt and roll forward packaging systems to new SKUs, sizes and formats
* Typeset and update regulatory and retailer copy, claims, barcodes, marks and translations
* Work confidently with dielines, bleeds, finishes and print specifications
* Prepare press‑ready PDFs for production
Retailer & sales assets
* Retailer‑ready product imagery layouts, modules, sell‑in decks and trade assets
* PDP graphics, comparison charts, icon panels and specification sheets (as needed)
Brand execution across channels
* Digital assets including web banners, social templates and paid ad variants
* Maintain clean master files, tidy versioning and a well‑organised internal asset library
The aesthetic (important)
A key brand in our portfolio is Lola — a world of minimal yet warm, modern yet timeless design with a sense of soft power and calm confidence.
You should be naturally drawn to:
* Restraint over noise
* Clean typography and strong hierarchy
* Soft, pastel‑led palettes used thoughtfully
* Premium whitespace and a “quiet luxury” sensibility
What we’re looking for
Must‑haves
* 3–6+ years’ experience in brand and packaging design (midweight level)
* Strong print and packaging production skills (dielines, prepress, press‑ready output)
* High attention to detail and visual consistency (you notice spacing, alignment and hierarchy issues)
* Comfortable working within established brand guidelines and matching a brand precisely
* Fast turnaround and clear, reliable communication
Tools
* Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator and InDesign essential)
* Figma
Nice to have
* Experience delivering assets for major retailers (and working to their specifications)
* Experience with premium wellness, beauty or luxury‑adjacent brands
Working style
* Clear briefs, efficient async feedback, minimal meetings
* Typically 1–2 check‑ins per week
* Calm, organised and production‑focused
