Job overview
Are you a Band nurse looking to work somewhere a bit different?
We are seeking dynamic, enthusiastic, and motivated band nurses to join our friendly multidisciplinary team at the Oxford Heart Centre. The Cardiac Angiography Suite (CAS) includes Cath Labs, a Day Unit, and an Assessment Area, providing a variety of cardiac procedures such as Coronary Angiography/Intervention, Pacemaker/ICD implantation, Electrophysiology Studies/Ablations, Structural/Congenital procedures, and Trans-Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI). We also perform nurse-led cardioversions, transoesophageal echo, and drug challenges.
The team in CAS aims to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a safe and welcoming environment. Candidates should demonstrate a passion for excellent care and a commitment to developing the necessary skills and knowledge.
The role involves working in both the Day Unit/Assessment Area and the Cath Labs, caring for both stable elective patients and acutely ill patients requiring emergency treatment.
Main duties include:
* Managing a small caseload of patients pre- and post-procedure in the Day Unit/Assessment Area.
* Working in scrub and circulating capacities in the Cath Lab for various procedures.
Working for our organization:
The unit operates Monday to Friday with an on-call service for emergencies outside regular hours and on weekends. As a full-time band nurse, you would work four-hour shifts per week. Once settled, you can join the on-call team providing Primary Angioplasty to Thames Valley patients, depending on experience and competency completion.
On-call duties are flexible and offer additional earnings. Typically, on-call involves one weeknight and one weekend day per month.
Previous cardiac nursing experience is desirable but not essential, as comprehensive training and induction are provided. Induction includes attending the Cardiac Foundation Course along with other nurses from the Heart Centre.
We offer a generous supernumerary period tailored to individual needs, ongoing career development, and training for extended roles such as conscious sedation and nurse-led cardioversions. There are excellent opportunities for further education through our partnership with Oxford Brookes University.
