About the Role
This is a corporate role within the Procurement and Supply Chain Management team, focused on delivering best value for the council through effective supplier engagement and commercial negotiation. The role is well suited to an individual with strong negotiation and relationship management skills, who is confident working with suppliers to achieve optimal outcomes.
You will play a key part in supporting the organisation’s procurement activity, resolving issues as they arise and providing practical, solutions‑focused advice. The role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting, attention to detail, and the ability to balance commercial awareness with organisational priorities.

About You
To apply for this post, you must:
1. Have strong ability to negotiate with others and use interpersonal skills to bring about change and achieved the desired outcomes and to analyse complex problems, develop business models and options and undertake risk analysis.
2. Be able to demonstrate strong commercial skills including influencing, negotiation, risk management, obtaining value for money, and liaising with a range of professional staff at varying levels.
3. Have experience of working within a customer focussed environment.
4. Be able to evidence of the successful management of strategic commercial relationships to ensure positive provider performance, to improve value for money and achieve service outcomes.
5. Have a proven track record of successfully engaging with a range of stakeholders partner bodies, building effective working relationships and promoting organisational reputation and interests.
6. Be able to evidence savings achieved and approach from previous roles and Experience of managing and delivering successfully a number of projects simultaneously.
7. Degree and/or equivalent relevant professional qualification (MCIPS) or relevant commercial/ procurement qualification plus Evidence of continuing professional development or Demonstrable experience.
