Milton Keynes University Hospital is expanding its Cancer Centre with a refurbished Pharmacy Department and a State of the Art Aseptic Unit. The Cancer Services team is developing to the next level and seeks an experienced Cancer Pharmacist to lead the growth of the Cancer Pharmacy service.
You will be a member of the Pharmacy Leadership Team, support the Pharmacy Cancer Team including screening of SACT prescriptions, and contribute to weekend and out of hours provision across the Trust. You will be one of two experienced senior Cancer Pharmacists leading the Cancer Pharmacy Team. There is opportunity for professional development. Main duties of the job
The Pharmacy Manager - Cancer & Clinical Trials acts as the expert within the MKUH Cancer Centre, providing a dynamic link between clinical practice and service development by creating new models for delivering patient care to optimise experience and outcomes from medicines across care settings.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
To maintain clinical expertise and develop particular areas of interest relevant to the substantive role and in accordance with the Trust and Pharmacy strategy. To be recognised as an expert within Oncology and Haematology clinical pharmacy.
Clinical Service Organisation and Management
To manage the Cancer & Clinical Trials pharmacy team in line with Organisation policy and procedures, including rotas, sickness cover, vacancies, leave and performance management. Deputise for the Clinical Director for Pharmacy at high level meetings in the absence of or at their request.
Education and Training Responsibilities
To provide a comprehensive induction programme in cancer services and Clinical Trials for all new Pharmacy staff. To ensure each team member has a comprehensive training package tailored to grade and duties, in accordance with MHRA and QA standards.
Expert Practice
To provide strategic advice to enable implementation and delivery of patient-centred medicines management for Oncology and Haematology patients, and to support a growing clinical trials portfolio.
Professional Leadership
To be recognised as attaining the highest levels of pharmaceutical expertise in Oncology and Haematology and to expand the boundaries of the pharmacy profession.
Professional Role
To maintain patient confidentiality and be professionally accountable for actions and advice.

Skills (Essential)

Qualifications and Knowledge (Essential)
* BPharm / BSc / MPharm (or equivalent)
* GPhC Registration
* Higher Degree / Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
* Working knowledge of clinical trials and related legislation
Desirable
* MRPharmS
* MSc or PhD in Clinical Pharmacy
* Independent prescribing qualification for a pharmacist
* Formal postgraduate training in haematology or oncology
Experience (Essential)
* Broad clinical service experience for haematology & oncology at senior level
* Experience managing drug expenditure for a specialty and understanding budget mechanisms
* Experience working with commissioners on drug use
* Experience evaluating medicines used in the specialty
* Experience as a trainer
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
* Experience in audit
* Personnel management and service development
* Awareness of current national standards and guidelines relevant to the directorate
* Experience supervising, developing and appraising staff; providing feedback
* Strategic collaboration with senior clinicians and managers within an integrated directorate

* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, with the ability to influence
Specific requirements
* Ability to perform duties with reasonable aids and adaptations
