Teaching Assistant – Level 2 Qualified

About the Role
We are seeking a Level 2 Qualified Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Sunderland, supporting pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support. This setting provides a structured, nurturing environment for pupils who have struggled to engage in mainstream education.
You will play a key role in supporting learning, behaviour and emotional regulation, helping pupils build confidence and re-engage with education.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
2. Support the delivery of personalised learning programmes.
3. Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
4. Encourage positive engagement and learning routines.
5. Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
6. Monitor and feedback on pupil progress.
Skills & Experience
7. Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (essential).
8. Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs.
9. Calm, patient and resilient approach.
10. Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
