DevOps Infrastructure Engineer
Bristol (Hybrid – 3 days per week on site)

About the Role
We’re looking for a DevOps Infrastructure Engineer with a strong on‑premise infrastructure background across Linux, Windows, and virtualised environments. This role is heavily hands‑on and focused on using DevOps, automation, and CI/CD to improve the reliability, security, and delivery of on‑prem systems, not cloud‑only platforms.
You’ll work across traditional infrastructure environments while applying modern DevOps practices to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Building, configuring, and maintaining on‑prem virtualised infrastructure, servers, and environments
* Administering and supporting Windows Server and Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu)
* Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated release processes
* Automating operational tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Jenkins, Git, and related tooling
* Managing patching, baselines, and on‑prem security compliance
* Working closely with developers and engineers to deliver secure, reliable solutions
* Troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure issues quickly and effectively
* Producing clear technical documentation and knowledge base content
* Contributing to wider infrastructure projects and DevOps transformation initiatives
* Providing accurate technical updates to internal stakeholders
Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong Windows Server administration (2016/2019/2022)
* Solid Linux administration experience (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar)
* Hands‑on experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware or Nutanix
* Proven background applying DevOps practices within infrastructure environments
* Strong knowledge of CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, Git, Artifactory, etc.)
* Practical experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Ansible)
* Excellent understanding of on‑premise infrastructure and data centre environments
* Comfortable working to strict security standards and compliance requirements
