Teaching Assistant
Work under the direct instruction of the class teacher to support access to learning for pupils with EHCPs. You'll provide general support to the teacher, work with small groups or one-to-one, and help create an inclusive learning environment.

Salary: Grade 5: 7-11 Cheshire East (£24,294 to £25,975) This is not pro-rata.
Hours: 8AM – 4PM (with a 30-minute lunch break) Monday to Thursday and until 2.30pm on Friday (36.5 hours per week) Term time only plus 5 days to be negotiated
Purpose of the Job
To work under the direct instruction of the class teacher usually in the classroom with the teacher, to support access to learning for pupils with EHCPs and provide general support to the teacher. Work might take place outside the main teaching area.

Major Responsibilities
To work under direct supervision/instruction to support access to learning by:
1. working under direct supervision/instruction to promote and safeguard the welfare of children for whom they are responsible for or with whom they come into contact.
2. attending to the personal care of pupils
3. working with small groups or one to one
4. undertaking general clerical/organisational support for the teacher
5. To supervise 30 minutes of lunchtime
Duties
Support the teacher by:
6. Preparing the classroom as directed for lessons and clearing afterwards
7. Assisting with the display of pupils work
8. Being aware of pupil problems/progress/achievements and reporting these to the teacher as agreed
9. Undertaking pupil record keeping as requested
10. Being aware of/working within planned learning activities
11. Contribution to planning e.g. for individual pupils often in line with their EHCP
12. Working with the teacher in managing pupil behaviour and reporting difficulties as appropriate
13. Providing clerical/administrative support e.g. photocopying, typing, filing, collecting money etc. occasionally
Supporting pupils by:
14. Supervising and providing support for pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning
15. Attending to the pupils personal needs, and implementing related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene which may include intimate care, first aid and welfare matters
16. Establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs
17. Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
18. Encouraging pupils to interact with others and to engage in activities led by the teacher
19. Encouraging pupils to act independently as appropriate
20. Assessing pupils as they make steps in progress
21. Contributing to the annual review process
22. To accompany children on all trips and outdoor learning experiences
Support the curriculum by:
23. Supporting pupils to understand instructions
24. Supporting pupils to make the next steps in learning in line with their EHCP
25. Supporting pupils in respect of local and national learning strategies
26. Supporting pupils using ICT as directed
27. Preparing and maintaining equipment/resources as directed by the teacher and assisting pupils in their use
Support the school by:
28. Being aware of and complying with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, and reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
29. Being aware of and supporting difference and ensuring all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
30. Contributing to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
31. Appreciating and supporting the role of other professionals
32. Attending relevant meetings as required
33. Participating in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
34. Assisting with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including before and after school and at lunchtimes as required
35. Liaising with the SENCo as necessary to support the pupil learning
36. Being a proactive member of the appraisal process
37. Accompanying teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required
