Overview
Pay: £13.00 per hour. This role is to support a young male living with his parents in their family home, in Shipston-On-Stour. Current care is provided by his parents, and he has home school education three times each week. Personal assistants are required to allow some family respite time. The client is registered blind and has profound learning disability, is fully immobile and suffers with diabetes, epilepsy and Poikilothermia. The client requires intermittent oxygen therapy, nebulization, oral suction and enteral feeding. He has a suprapubic catheter in situ.
The personal assistants will need to be patient and very understanding of his needs, willing to be very interactive as he enjoys sensory activities, including messy play, kinetic sand, music, and watching cartoons. He dislikes loud noises, raised voices and busy environments.
We are looking to recruit a team of Personal Assistants who can support with day-to-day living, personal care, learning through sensory play, and emotional well-being with a calming approach.
About You
The ideal candidate will live locally to the family, be flexible, and enjoy the company of animals as the family owns cats and dogs. You should have a genuine caring nature, a calming presence, enthusiasm, patience, and the ability to bring engagement into the client’s life. You must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, respect for the family and home, and a good sense of humor.
Candidates can be male or female. Previous experience of supporting clients with Poikilothermia, oxygen therapy, oral suctioning, enteral feeding, catheter care, epilepsy or diabetes is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Responsibilities
* Support with day-to-day living and personal care

* Commit to flexible hours including Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays 4:30pm – 11:30pm with alternate weekend coverage
* Provide cover for annual leave, sickness, and alternate weekend redistribution as required

* Hourly rate: £13.00 per hour
* Full training provided, including care for Poikilothermia, oxygen therapy, oral suctioning, enteral feeding, catheter care, epilepsy and diabetes
* Experience in care is desirable
