Sous Chef – High-End Indian Restaurant (Essex)
Salary: £40,000 per year
Schedule: 3 split shifts & 3 straight shifts per week
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic team at a high-end Indian restaurant in Essex – located only 5 minutes from the Elizabeth Line for excellent transport links. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a vital role in maintaining exceptional standards while supporting creativity and consistency across the menu.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management and operations.
Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and daily specials.
Supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff to deliver excellence.
Ensure consistent quality, taste, and presentation of dishes.
Oversee stock rotation, ordering, and supplier relationships.
Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety compliance.
Step up and take charge in the Head Chef's absence.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous in a high-quality Indian or fine-dining restaurant.
Solid understanding of Indian cuisine, spices, and cooking techniques.
Strong organisational and leadership skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Passion for food, creativity, and attention to detail.
Flexible to work both split and straight shifts as scheduled.
