JMW’s Risk & Compliance department is recruiting for a Compliance Analyst to join the team. The Compliance Analyst plays an essential role within the Risk & Compliance team, supporting the firm’s risk management framework through various tasks.
The ideal candidate will hold a law degree or equivalent legal training and have a genuine interest in Risk & Compliance. Previous relevant experience is advantageous but not required.
The position will be based fully in the office during an initial 6-month settling-in period, after which hybrid working (1 day remote per week) will be available.
The role is based at the firm’s head office in Spinningfields, Manchester, with occasional travel to Liverpool and London offices.

Responsibilities and Duties
* Complete procedural file reviews across all areas of the firm
* Monitor and action SmartSearch alerts, reporting back to fee earners
* Handle risk & compliance queries from staff via email or telephone
* Maintain the firm’s SRA records through mySRA and manage practising certificates for solicitors and lawyers
* Complete the firm’s practising certificate renewal exercises
* Manage the onboarding process for new starters, including regulatory questionnaires and liaising with relevant teams
* Coordinate with new starters to ensure regulatory details are updated and checks are completed
* Deliver training sessions on risk & compliance topics and conduct ad-hoc staff training
* Update central registers, including staff lists and breach logs
* Assist the data protection lead with data breach management
* Support external assessments such as Lexcel and CQS
* Research legal and regulatory changes affecting the firm
* Review referral agreements with the Client Services Team
* Support the team in daily risk & compliance tasks
