With their headquarters in the West Midlands, they are true pioneers within the chemicals industry. With strategic expansion plans, an opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join them in a new remit as a Gas Odorant Engineer and take ownership of the day-to-day maintenance, forward planning and planned preventative maintenance of Gas Odorant plant and delivery equipment. This niche, Mechanical Engineer position is a key role within the organisation and the main responsibilities are as follows: Fault finding and smell investigation of delivery systems. Periodic examination of hoses, relief valves, ladders/steps and protective devices. Preparation of delivery tankers for insurance inspections. Responding to offsite incidents involving delivery systems in the UK and Ireland. Escorting odorant delivery to Ireland, providing support in the event of mechanical breakdown/environmental incident during the journey. Transferring static storage tanks on Bio-Methane sites. Recharging of carbon absorbers and decontaminating saturated carbon so as fit for disposal. Supporting customer technical requirements. Site visits with customers to assess projects, participating in HazOps/planning of projects with customers, devising decontamination processes and writing accompanying method statements/risk assessments/COSHH assessments. Replacement of couplings on customer storage tanks, as well as the removal and decontamination of odorant systems My client is keen to find someone with a HND in Mechanical Engineering, solid industry experience and ideally a background of working with pressurised vessels and chemicals/dangerous goods. You will also require prior experience of creating risk assessment method statements. The role requires travel across the UK and Ireland, with at least 1 trip per week, and it is estimated that roughly half of these trips will involve staying away from home. In return, my client is offering an excellent salary, circa £45,000 for a 38 hour week.
