Gas Turbine Senior Stress Engineer
Position: Senior Stress Engineer – Gas Turbine at Frazer‑Nash Consultancy
Locations: Burton on Trent, Glasgow, Bristol, Gloucester, Leatherhead, Manchester, Plymouth – flexible hybrid working, time split between office and home.

Role Summary:
As a Senior Stress Engineer you will assess the structural integrity of gas turbine components for aerospace and power industry clients. You will conduct strength, fatigue (low and high cycle), creep and defect tolerance assessments, develop bespoke software tools, and support project delivery across Frazer‑Nash portfolio. The role involves client communication, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to service development and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
* Use advanced finite element analysis to assess strength, fatigue, creep, and fracture of turbine parts.
* Develop and author custom sub‑routines and tools in Abaqus, Ansys, or SC03.
* Lead technical projects and deliver solutions for high‑value, safety‑critical clients.
* Provide structured decisions, problem‑solving, and ownership in collaboration with the business and clients.
* Mentor junior engineers and guide capability development.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
* Strong mechanical / structural engineering knowledge.
* In‑depth experience with advanced FEA (cracked‑body modelling, material non‑linearity, user sub‑routines).
* Proven strength, fatigue, creep, and fracture assessment expertise.
Desired Experience (not essential)
* Technical consultancy background.
* Business development, client relationship building, and project management.
* Leading large or multi‑disciplinary projects.
* Delivering complex technical work in a commercial environment.
