As we continue to modernise and strengthen the electricity network, we are seeking an experienced and influential leader to unite our Protection and Control capability — bringing together people, systems and strategy to deliver safe, reliable and resilient network performance.

This is a senior leadership role with accountability across protection, SCADA and automation systems, spanning strategic asset management and operational field delivery.

As Leader, Protection & Control, you will provide enterprise leadership of the Protection & Control function and set the long-term direction for how these critical systems are designed, managed and delivered.

You will:

• Lead the Protection & Control function in line with AEMO requirements and risk priorities

• Set strategy for protection, SCADA and automation assets

• Oversee safe and compliant delivery of protection and control work

• Provide technical leadership during major incidents and investigations

• Embed consistent, best-practice processes

• Drive modernisation and new protection technologies

• Build workforce capability for cyber, compliance and operational needs

• Champion quality across field, engineering and asset teams

About you

You are a strategic and technically credible leader who can influence at senior levels and guide highly specialised teams through change. You combine deep subject matter expertise with strong commercial and people leadership capability.

You will bring:

1. Demonstrated leadership experience in utilities, energy or similarly complex environments
2. Degree in Engineering or extensive equivalent experience
3. Deep expertise in Protection & Control systems, SCADA, automation and asset management OR expertise in leading technical and complex environments
4. Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and regulatory compliance
5. Proven experience leading large technical programs and improving operational performance
6. Outstanding communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
7. Strong commercial and strategic acumen, with a focus on value, safety and risk management

This is a rare opportunity to lead a highly specialised function, shaping both strategic asset direction and operational delivery across protection, SCADA and automation systems that are critical to Tasmania’s energy future.

If you are ready to make a lasting impact on a network that matters, we encourage you to apply.
