Job Description:
Senior Litigation Solicitor, Belfast, Suit 7 years + PQE, Up to £65k. Our client is a National law firm with an excellent reputation based in Belfast City Centre. They are seeking an experienced Solicitor for their Personal Injury team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within the Belfast Team on large loss claims. You will assist the lead lawyer with complex, high-value High Court cases, including casualty, motor claims, and catastrophic injury cases. You will handle your own caseload of claims valued between £100k-£250k. Experience with indemnity, liability, and complex medical issues is preferred; excellent attention to detail is essential. Your work will be supervised, with feedback provided. You will engage with sophisticated senior claims handlers in long-standing insurance clients. Key Accountabilities:
- Manage a caseload of complex injury claims, including high-value multi-track and catastrophic injury claims involving brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, and fatal claims.
- Communicate with insurer clients, handle queries, and update on case progress.
- Analyze quantum evidence, prepare chronologies, identify anomalies across evidence sources.
- Use knowledge of injury symptomology to identify relevant issues in medical records and instruct medical experts.
- Analyze liability evidence and identify gaps.
- Draft technical advice on claim handling, indemnity, liability, quantum, and causation issues.
- Proactively identify next steps and discuss with the Lead Lawyer.
- Interview witnesses and draft statements.
- Liaise with parties involved in claims.
- Draft pleadings and applications.
- Instruct counsel and attend conferences, JSMs, mediations, trials, and settlement conferences.
- Meet performance targets and quality standards.
- Delegate tasks to Legal Assistants/Paralegals and support their development.
- Maintain case management systems.
- Ensure compliance with LSNI regulations.
Essential Skills and Attributes:
- Qualified solicitor or relevant legal experience.
- Experience with indemnity, liability, and quantum.
- Experience with complex medical cases preferred.
- Critical thinking and quantum analysis skills.
- Good advocacy and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and client care skills.
- Knowledge of case law, litigation practice, and Court Rules.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and work under pressure.
- Attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Positive attitude, confidence, and initiative.
- Calmness under pressure and effective delegation.
- IT proficiency (Word, Excel, Office).
