The Role
This is a part-time (2 days per week), temporary position for up to 12 months providing public liaison for on-going highways civil engineering around Nelson, Brierfield and Colne in Lancashire. The remuneration package will depend on experience and will include a workplace pension, together with accident and life cover after a successful probationary period. The successful individual will also be provided with 35 days holidays (pro rata) for the leave year - sufficient days will need to be saved for the Christmas shutdown.
Key responsibilities of the role and the day-to-day tasks and duties of the role:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
* Work with Lancashire County Council PR and Communications regarding updates for members of the public and local businesses
* Liaise with members of the public and local businesses both remotely (emails/phone etc) and face to face to keep them informed of on-going work
* Support and coordinate with schools regarding visits to the scheme
* Attend public events regarding the scheme
* A driving licence and your own vehicle is required as there will be some travel to sites involved.
Essential Skills
* Experience in public, community or stakeholder engagement
* Approachable, positive and skilled at building relationships with a wide range of people
* Good MS Office/ computer skills
* Good team player
* Ability to work under own initiative
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Full UK driving licence
