Role Overview
The Service Delivery Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of client engagements across Albany Beck’s Financial Services portfolio. This role ensures that projects run smoothly, clients receive excellent service, and delivery teams are supported and high‑performing. The Delivery Manager acts as a core member of the consulting function, bringing structure, clarity, and leadership to engagements. While not a sales role, the Delivery Manager plays an important part in shaping proposals, supporting commercial conversations with realistic delivery insight, and identifying opportunities for continued client value. This is a hands‑on delivery leadership role suited to someone who embodies the fundamentals of great consulting: structured problem solving, strong communication, stakeholder confidence, and the ability to turn project objectives into actionable delivery plans.
Key Responsibilities
Client Delivery & Engagement Leadership
* Lead the delivery of multiple client engagements, ensuring high‑quality outcomes and alignment to project objectives.
* Act as a trusted point of contact for client stakeholders, providing clarity, updates and proactive issue management.
* Ensure all work aligns to the agreed Statement of Work (scope, deliverables, milestones, timelines, commercials).
* Maintain oversight of delivery health, risks, dependencies and quality.
* Support consultants on engagements with guidance, structure and problem‑solving support.
Project Oversight & Team Management
* Provide leadership and day‑to‑day oversight across delivery teams, ensuring clarity of objectives and strong performance.
* Handle personnel matters relating to project performance, wellbeing, expectations and general people leadership.
* Coach Delivery Managers, Consultants, Analysts and client‑side team members.
* Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
Consulting Excellence & Structured Problem Solving
* Apply structured thinking to break down client problems and shape delivery approaches.
* Help clients articulate objectives, define success criteria and understand trade‑offs.
* Support the creation of project deliverables, frameworks and recommendations.
Governance, Reporting & Assurance
* Maintain effective governance across engagements (status reporting, RAID logs, change control, delivery cadence).
* Ensure accurate internal reporting on delivery health, financials, team capacity and client sentiment.
* Uphold delivery standards and contribute to continuous improvement of methodologies and tooling.
Commercial Awareness & Proposal Support
* Work with the Sales, Talent Acquisition and Head Office teams to shape realistic and deliverable proposals.
* Contribute to SoW creation, resourcing plans, timelines and delivery approaches.
* Identify opportunities for follow‑on work, cross‑sell, or value extension based on delivery insight — in partnership with the sales team.
* Support smooth mobilisation and transition from sales to delivery.
Knowledge Creation, Thought Leadership & Market Insight
* Contribute to the development of delivery methodologies, templates and best‑practice toolkits.
* Support knowledge creation on Financial Services topics, regulatory themes and domain developments.
* Participate in the creation of thought leadership and market commentary.
* Help build Albany Beck’s intellectual capital and consulting toolkit.
Key Skills and Experience Required
* Proven experience managing delivery of consulting or professional services engagements.
* Strong structured problem‑solving capability and ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
* Experience overseeing delivery teams, managing performance matters and supporting consultant development.
* Strong understanding of delivery governance, SoWs, scope management, risks and reporting.
* Ability to engage confidently with senior client stakeholders and build trusted relationships.
* Commercial awareness with an understanding of delivery financials, SoW constructs and identifying value‑add opportunities.
* Familiarity with Financial Services environments, ways of working and regulatory landscape.
Desirable Experience
* Experience delivering change, transformation, or technology‑enabled programmes.
* Exposure to consulting proposal creation and opportunity shaping.
* Knowledge of delivery frameworks or qualifications (PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, ITIL).
* Experience contributing to knowledge creation or thought leadership.
