We have a vacancy for a flexible, calm and confident individual to cover the absence of teachers by supervising and supporting classes of students whilst they carry out pre-set activities. This role will also involve acting as a form tutor, forming relationships and delivering our RESPECT curriculum (PSHE).
The role of Cover Supervisor is for 31 hours 15 minutes per week, 8.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday (with 45 minutes for lunch). This is for 39 weeks per year (term time plus TED days).
Actual salary: £19,813 - £22,573 (FTE £27,269 - £31,067)
Suitable candidates will ideally have experience working with children in an employed or voluntary capacity, including confidence and competency in managing learning and behaviour. An approachable and calm manner is required with a good level of ICT skill and ability to be flexible and adapt quickly.

Main Purpose of the role:
* To work under the instruction and guidance of the class teacher(s) for whom you are providing cover.
* To cover the absence of teachers by supervising and supporting classes of students whilst they carry out pre-set activities. These classes may be in any subject area and/or age range.
* To manage the behaviour of students, in accordance with the school's
Behaviour Policy, whilst they carry out the task.
* To ensure the safety of the students you are supervising.
Job Activities:
* To liaise with the class teacher in order to understand what the learning activity is to be and what resources are required (e.g., worksheets, textbooks etc.)
* To ask questions of the teacher to ensure that you have a good understanding of what is required.
* To ensure that the necessary resources are available for the lesson (N.B., it is the teacher's responsibility to produce the resources, but you may be asked to assist with their production or to ensure there are sufficient copies available).
* To take the register.
* To clearly explain to students the task they are required to carry out, what is expected of them and what equipment they will need.
* To explain the timescale and what they should have completed by the end of the session and issue resources and explain who these will be used.
* To refer to a nominated class teacher if the guidance of a teacher is required during the lesson.
* To answer any general questions that the students may have about the tasks, giving any assistance hat is within the Cover Supervisor's capacity.
* To manage the behaviour of the students, in accordance with the school's
Behaviour Policy, whilst they carry out the task.
* To maintain the students' self-esteem through encouragement and praise.
* To ensure the learning environment is a positive one.
* To work effectively with any other Teaching Assistants present.
* To collect the completed work and any issued resources from students and return them to class teacher.
