Apply Now About the role Balfour Beatty are looking for several Secondary Lining Site Engineers to join our Major Projects Team, based at Hinkley Point, Bridgwater. An Amazing opportunity to work on a large-scale project At Hinkley Point Balfour Beatty are delivering one of the most complex marine engineering projects currently taking place in the world to support the construction of the first new nuclear power station built in the UK in a generation. The project will see the construction of three tunnels under the seabed that will supply the two reactors at Hinkley Point C with cooling water and then discharge it back into the Bristol Channel. Our experts will use state-of-the-art technology to excavate a total of nine kilometres of tunnel, which will be lined with 38,000 concrete segments forming 6000 lining rings. The tunnels will be connected to the seabed by vertical shafts and capped with large intake and outfall heads, each weighing close to 5000 tonnes, that allow sea water to pass into the tunnels. Both the concrete segments and the heads are under manufactured to exacting specifications at a purpose-built state-of-the-art facility at Balfour Beattys site in Avonmouth, Bristol. What you'll be doing As a Secondary Lining Engineer you will undertake Site Engineering control and implementation of works on site, including monitoring and reporting of progress. Some other key areas will include: - Hazard Identification and contribution to development of Safe System of Work Engineering Control The provision of sketches detailing the setting out information installed Read and determine information from drawings, schedules and specification Quality Production of as-built drawings & records for every element of the works Measures actual materials used and reconciles with theoretical measure, reporting and investigating reasons for differences Production of accurate daily diary of resources, including labour, plant, materials, subcontractors and outputs Produces weekly measure.
