Job Description:
Our public sector client is currently recruiting a temporary ongoing Family Time Support Worker to provide support to qualified support workers in carrying out their responsibilities when working with children & their families.
Working hours: Monday – Friday, 9-5
Salary: £12.31 per hour
KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
* Co-work and collaborate with colleagues and other professionals when carrying out specified tasks under the supervision of a social worker.
* Assist with practical arrangements to facilitate contact between parents and children involved in child protection procedures or who are looked after by the Trust. Establish rapport and engage with families and children.
* Objectively observe interactions between them.
* Negotiate with families in difficult situations to achieve a calm environment.
During family-time, promote appropriate care and play suitable to the child's age, using role modeling to support if required. This includes educational work with parents and children to improve the quality and experience of family time.
Ensure the safety and well-being of the child/young person at all times.
Transport children/young people to and from family-time venues when necessary, only if a carer cannot provide transport and other methods are not appropriate. Immediately report any safeguarding or child protection concerns to the Manager/Social Worker, in accordance with policy, and record on the Observation Tool.
Essential Criteria (Must be demonstrated on CV):
* NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 3 in a care-related subject and 1 year's experience in a social care role.
* OR NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 2 in a care-related subject and 2 years' experience in a social care role.
* OR 4 GCSEs (Grades A-C) and 3 years' experience in a social care role.
Note: Those without Level 3 qualification should be willing to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care Support.
Be registered with the NISCC on the Social Care part of the register at the time of appointment or be eligible for immediate registration prior to taking up the post.
