Octopus Energy UK – Flexibility /

Octopus Energy is at the forefront of the energy transition, making energy cheaper and greener through its cutting-edge technology. The flexibility team is building the next generation of products and tools to make energy more flexible. These include our flagship Intelligent Octopus product automating demand shift for 300,000 customers, saving 2 million customers money through Saving Sessions and Free Electricity Sessions, and managing 568MW of large grid-scale batteries to balance the system. The team develops products that are used by millions of customers, helping boost renewables use and decarbonise energy systems worldwide.
We are seeking a Commercial Manager to drive our expansion into new flexibility markets. This role involves identifying opportunities, launching relevant products, establishing partner agreements, and paving the way for rapid growth within our dynamic team.

What you'll do:
* Lead all commercial aspects for the flexibility team, spanning business development, partnerships, contract negotiations, and strategic planning.
* Identify and evaluate new flexibility opportunities, including C&I applications, grid-scale battery storage, or something we haven’t thought of yet.
* Get new pilots and products to market - working with Octopus internal teams, you’ll be responsible for developing first of a kind products that address market needs, launching MVPs and developing early stage products.
* Scale and grow successful products - after achieving product-market fit, setting products on a path to maturity and reaching customers at scale.
* Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key partners to address opportunities.
* Support broader strategic thinking on the team - as the flex team’s work scales, developing thinking on which areas to target and where value lies.
What you'll need:
* Great commercial instincts – able to balance genuine customer-first sales conversations with navigating more complex contract discussions when needed.
* Ability to get stuff done at pace - time to market and trial is often a key differentiator - we’re looking for someone who can move fast to deploy and iterate solutions.
* Quantitative and written communications skills - someone who can understand key value drivers and articulate a business case.
* Interpersonal - ability to build rapport and work with internal and external teams.
* Energy markets understanding is a plus but not a prerequisite.
