About The Role
Morson Edge is partnering with BAE Systems to recruit a Quality Engineer for their Glascoed site. This pivotal role involves ensuring that manufacturing processes and outputs meet stringent quality standards, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for reviewing shop floor records, endorsing certificates of conformity, and supporting both internal and external audits. This position requires a proactive individual capable of analyzing quality data, driving corrective actions, and fostering a culture of quality excellence within the manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a qualification in an engineering discipline, such as a Science or Engineering degree, HNC, or HND. Alternatively, candidates with substantial hands-on experience in an engineering role, demonstrating proficiency in the required skill sets, will also be considered. Relevant certifications, such as ISO 9001 Internal Auditor, are highly desirable. Candidates should have a strong foundation in manufacturing processes, quality management systems, and industry-specific standards to effectively contribute to the organization’s quality objectives.
Responsibilities
* Review shop floor records, including 'SMDCP' documents, and 'First Off' items to ensure compliance with quality standards and technical specifications.
* Endorse Certificates of Conformity as an approved signatory, ensuring all documentation aligns with industry and company requirements.
* Perform internal audits and support external audits, developing comprehensive responses and implementing effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues.
* Monitor and analyze reject, rework, and right-first-time (RFT) data, presenting insights and recommendations to management to inform decision-making.
* Manage non-conformance and quality issues through systems such as CAR, Q1, Q2, and Q3, facilitating timely resolution and root cause analysis.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing rejects and costs, enhancing operational workflows, throughput, and efficiency.
* Engage and energize team members to participate in improvement activities, supporting their efforts in identifying and implementing process enhancements.
* Assist in process readiness reviews (PRR), evaluating process compliance and supporting the optimization of PRR procedures across the site.
* Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to enhance the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure alignment with industry standards.
* Maintain and develop personal expertise in lean manufacturing methodologies and core tools such as VSM, Root Cause Analysis, 8D, Six Sigma, TOC, MS Excel, and Minitab, while promoting knowledge sharing across the team.
