Design Quality Engineer

A new opportunity has arisen for a Design Quality Engineer to join the Quality Engineering Airframe organisation at Broughton site. Reporting to the Head of Quality Engineering Wing Operations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring quality performance across all programmes, working closely with Engineering teams and suppliers across Europe, America, and Asia.
Role Overview:
As a Design Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for resolving quality issues and driving continuous improvement projects. Your focus will be on setting measurement standards, identifying and facilitating improvements to enhance process performance, and ensuring product adherence to standards. You will work proactively at the initial design phase, before process changes are made, and continue to support quality throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deploy the Quality Strategy within the Engineering Wing organisation through the implementation of Quality Improvement Projects and Plans.
* Lead and deliver improvement projects to achieve Engineering Wing quality targets.
* Facilitate and support root cause analysis and practical problem-solving activities.
* Establish, drive, and monitor corrective and preventive action plans to improve engineering quality performance.
* Identify and mitigate risks/issues related to engineering deliverables, supporting standardised mitigation plans.
* Support the deployment and application of Quality standards within the Engineering organisation.
* Capture and share lessons learned to enhance organisational efficiency and product maturity.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
* Relevant experience in Quality and/or Engineering.
* Project management knowledge.
* Understanding of Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis techniques (e.g., 9S, 8D).
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact at all management levels.
* Quick learner with a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
* Excellent verbal and written English, and strong IT skills (Google Workspace/Microsoft Office).
Desirable:
* Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management and Product Data Management Systems.
* Understanding of engineering drawing and modification management.
* Experience in a design or manufacturing engineering environment.
* German language and programming skills (Javascript, Google Apps Script, Python) are advantageous.
