Overview We are supporting a leading aerospace engineering organisation in Tewkesbury in the recruitment of an experienced Sliding Head Lathe Machinist.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, high-performing manufacturing team producing precision components to tight aerospace tolerances, with strong long-term career prospects.
Key Responsibilities
* Set and operate Star Sliding Head Lathes
* Machine components to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
* Carry out inspection and self-certification using manual and automated metrology equipment
* Work from engineering drawings, inspection plans, and technical documentation
* Support problem solving and continuous improvement activities
* Apply lean manufacturing principles (5S, etc.)
* Perform basic preventative maintenance
Requirements
* Proven experience setting sliding head lathes (Star preferred)
* Completed engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
* Experience working to tight tolerances in a precision environment
* Competent using inspection and measurement equipment
* Ability to read engineering drawings (metric & imperial)
* Understanding of GD&T
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to use initiative
* Able to work both independently and within a team
