Workshop Manager – Malton, North Yorkshire – £45,000 – £50,000 – Full Time – 40 hours per week (8:00am – 5:00pm)
We are recruiting a hands‑on Workshop Manager to lead a busy production team within a specialist machinery manufacturing business. This role suits someone who prefers being on the workshop floor, leading the team, solving problems and keeping production moving rather than sitting behind a desk. The team comprises Welding, Painting, Assembly & Dispatch (approx. 14 staff); you will report to the General Manager and work with Planning and Purchasing.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and support the team on the workshop floor
* Deliver daily production targets safely and efficiently
* Identify and resolve production issues quickly
* Run daily toolbox talks and team briefings
* Manage performance, standards and team development
* Improve workflow from goods-in through to dispatch
* Feed back build issues to support product improvements
Qualifications
* Confident people manager
* Practical problem solver who enjoys a hands‑on environment
* Strong communicator between office and workshop teams
* Experience leading a workshop or production team
* Background in fabrication, welding, or mechanical assembly
* Understanding of hydraulics/electrics
* Agricultural machinery interest or experience
Package
Salary £45,000 – £50,000.
Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
