Purpose of the Role
To lead high-quality teaching and learning within our Pre-school room (3-5 year olds). The EYFS Teacher/room leader will ensure the curriculum is delivered effectively, staff are supported and developed, and that all children are provided with a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment in which to thrive.
We are looking for a dedicated EYFS Teacher / Room Leader to join our team. In this role, you will:
Teaching & Learning
* Plan, deliver and evaluate a high-quality EYFS curriculum that meets the needs and interests of all children.
* Provide an inclusive and stimulating environment that supports children's progress across all areas of learning and development.
* Carry out regular observations and assessments, maintaining accurate records in line with statutory requirements.
* Support and model outstanding teaching practice, mentoring colleagues to raise quality across the setting.
Leadership
* Lead by example, fostering a positive and professional culture among staff.
* Ensure effective communication with parents, carers, and external agencies.
Safeguarding & Compliance
* Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (or Deputy DSL, depending on setting structure).
* Ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are understood and followed by staff.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of statutory EYFS requirements, Ofsted standards, and best practice guidance.
* Support with health and safety, risk assessments, and compliance checks within the setting.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Level 3 (or above) qualification in Early Years Education (QTS or EYPS/EYTS desirable).
* Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, child development, safeguarding and ofsted requirements.
* Experience in leading a team and/or mentoring staff in an early years setting.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to build positive relationships with children, families and staff.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
* Previous experience as a Room Leader.
* Designated Safeguarding Lead training.
* Paediatric First Aid qualification.
