Job Description Overview Are you a highly organised and proactive leader with a passion for data protection and information rights? We're seeking a dynamic Information Governance Team Leader to join our dedicated Information Governance Team within ICT Services. This role offers a hybrid working model (minimum 2 days at Head Office, 3 days working from home), providing a fantastic work-life balance. In this pivotal role, you will: Lead and inspire a team of Information Governance Officers, fostering their development and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality service. Be the go-to expert for all Information Rights requests, providing timely and accurate advice and guidance to both internal service areas and our residents/customers. Manage and oversee the efficient handling of a high volume of Subject Access Requests (SARs), Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) requests, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines. Ensure adherence to key legislation including UK GDPR, DPA 2018, FOI, and EIR, operating within a robust regulatory environment. Develop and maintain crucial Information Governance policies and procedures in collaboration with Service Managers and Heads of Service. Drive continuous improvement of our iCaseworks system for managing Information Rights and Information Governance processes. Monitor and manage team performance against statutory KPIs (90% for both FOIs and SARs), contributing to positive outcomes reported to key governance boards and the ICO. Build strong collaborative partnerships with internal stakeholders, maintaining trust and ensuring a joined-up approach to Information Governance. Champion a culture of innovation within the team, encouraging proactive solutions to complex Information Rights challenges. Provide strategic support and leadership on complex issues, cases, and reviews, liaising with the Information Governance Manager/DPO and Legal for expert advice. About You We are looking for someone who is: Experienced in managing and developing a team, ideally within an Information Governance setting. Highly knowledgeable of information rights legislation (UK GDPR, DPA 2018, FOI, EIR) and best practices. An excellent communicator with proven experience of engaging effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Proactive and results-oriented with a strong focus on customer service and delivering within tight deadlines. Highly organised with the ability to effectively plan, prioritise, and manage a complex workload. A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of building credibility and influencing others. Ideally, you will also have: An Information Rights certification or relevant qualification, or equivalent relevant work experience. Previous experience working within a local authority Information Governance Team. Good knowledge of local government business systems/applications.
