As a Chief Cardiac Physiologist specializing in Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM), you will play a key role in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating patients with heart rhythm disorders. Working closely with cardiologists and multidisciplinary teams, you will support the management of patients with conditions such as arrhythmias and heart failure, including those requiring device therapy. Your responsibilities will include conducting diagnostic tests, assisting with implantations and follow-ups of cardiac devices, and interpreting results to guide patient care.
We serve three major hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham, along with smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, and the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital—the first of its kind in England. We also provide home-based services and community health services, giving patients greater choice and control over their care to promote independence and reduce hospital admissions. * Assist in establishing, coordinating, and delivering cardiology technical services across Northumbria Trust, including ECG, exercise tolerance testing, echocardiography, ambulatory monitoring, pacemaker, and ICD follow-up services, as well as cardiac catheterization.
* Ensure delivery of high-quality cardiology technical services aligned with NSF recommendations.
* Deputize for the department head in managing a team, including clerical staff, ATOs, SATOs, and physiologists.
* Perform advanced cardiac tests and procedures, interpret results, and prepare reports for clinicians.
* Provide clinical supervision and training for trainees and professionals.
* Serve as an expert resource on cardiology technical issues for primary and secondary care.
* Engage in research and development activities, including testing new equipment.
