Main Function
This role provides the opportunity to be an integral part of our established Purchasing and Logistics Team who are responsible for the management of all stock coming into the business, with a global annual spend in excess of £50m.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Procurement / buying of direct / indirect materials in line with inventory targets
2. Raising purchase requisitions and purchase orders for suppliers.
3. Progressing / expediting orders with suppliers to ensure on time deliveries and maintenance of appropriate inventory levels and inventory risk assessments.
4. Validating, calculating and actioning MRP outputs.
5. Undertaking resourcing activities including the identification of new supply lines, coordinating with internal departments for product sign off and aligning new orders to agreed inventory targets.
6. Monitoring supplier performance.
7. Maintaining supplier schedules in line with demand requirements.
8. Ensuring cost effectiveness of all purchases.
9. Interpreting data and providing recommendations and/or defining trends that result in improved inventory holding efficiency.
10. Working closely with the Inbound Logistics Team to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of goods.
11. Ensuring the accurate and timely maintenance of all systems and records.
12. Ensuring invoices are posted in a timely manner.
13. Liaising with suppliers and internal department managers.
14. Developing / maintaining current ISO standards.
15. Providing cover and assistance to colleagues when required.
16. Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.
Essential requirements
17. Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience of buying / procurement within MRP environment
18. Minimum of 2 years’ experience of using ERP system and specific Purchasing modules
19. Proficient in the use of MS Office, including higher Excel functions such as V Lookup, Pivot tables, Index/Match etc
20. Experience of purchasing and procurement within manufacturing or FMCG environment
21. Working knowledge of efficient materials flow and best practice
22. Experience of supplier selection
23. Strong track record of negotiating procurement / buying terms
24. Ability to work under pressure and to tight schedules
25. Ability to work proactively and on own initiative
26. Strong organisational and administration skills
27. Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail
28. Quick to learn navigation of ERP systems and other IT packages
29. Confident and assertive

31. Adaptable / Flexible approach to work
Desirable requirements
32. Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or similar
33. Level 4 CIPS Qualification
34. Previous experience of Navision or similar ERP system
35. Experience in buying to forecasts and stock life levels
36. Experience of buying from suppliers based in Asia, Europe and the UK
37. Experience of working with long lead time suppliers and shipping by sea freight
38. Willing to travel from time to time
