The Opportunity
Bullhouse Brewery is entering an exciting phase of growth, with plans to move and scale production and expand its venue footprint. We are seeking a commercially minded Finance Manager to take ownership of the day to day finance function across the group and provide clear, practical financial insight to support decision making.
This is a hands on Finance Manager role where you will be close to the detail while also adding commercial value. You will be supported by a bookkeeper who manages day to day transactional processing, including credit control and core accounting administration. External accountants remain in place for statutory and year end compliance. This role focuses on strengthening internal reporting, improving visibility on margins and cashflow, and supporting operational performance as the business scales.
Responsibilities
* Management Reporting
* Preparation of monthly management accounts across multiple group entities
* Consolidated group reporting
* Variance analysis with clear commentary
* Presentation of performance summaries to MD and senior management
* Development and tracking of operational KPIs
Commercial Support
* Margin analysis by product, venue and customer
* Work alongside Operations to review venue P&Ls, focusing on GP, wage percentages and stock control
* Support pricing and cost control decisions
* Assist with financial modelling for new sites and capital investments
* Support grant applications, including preparation of financial information and business case inputs
* Credit control management
Budgeting and Forecasting
* Lead annual budgeting process
* Prepare rolling forecasts
* Support development of cashflow forecasts
* Monitor working capital performance
* Support CapEx planning and financial evaluation of investment projects
Financial Control and Oversight
* Manage duty payments, VAT returns and liaison with external accountants
* Manage R&D tax credits
* Support duty reporting and HMRC compliance
* Overall management and oversight of payroll processes, including Tronc scheme administration
* Maintenance of fixed asset register
* Ownership of accruals and prepayments
* Ensure a robust and timely month end process
* Provide oversight and guidance to the bookkeeper
Systems and Process
* Optimise use of Xero and strengthen reporting outputs
* Identify and implement solutions to improve integration between operational systems and Xero / financial software
* IT integration and identify new solutions to improve integration between operational systems and finance
* Help introduce clearer processes and financial discipline as the group grows
The Person
* Fully qualified or part qualified accountant
* Experience in industry, ideally manufacturing, FMCG, hospitality or multi site environments
* Strong management accounts experience with ability to explain performance clearly
* Commercially aware with an interest in operational drivers
* Confident working in a growing SME environment
* Strong Xero and Excel capability
* Proactive with a high attention to detail
* Comfortable taking ownership while remaining hands on
* Able to work closely with founders and operational teams
