Job Description

Key ResponsibilitiesShader Development: Create custom HLSL or Node-based shaders for realistic skin (SSS), eyes, and anisotropic hair.Pipeline Automation: Build tools and scripts (Python/Blueprints) to streamline the export-import process from DCC tools to Unreal.Lighting & Rendering: Set up real-time lighting environments that highlight the avatar without compromising frame rates.Performance: Profile and optimize the front-end to ensure low latency-critical for real-time AI conversations.
Technical Requirements
Unreal Engine: Advanced mastery of Blueprints, Material Editor, and Niagara VFX.Integration: Knowledge of how to bring external data (API calls from the AI) into Unreal to trigger visual changes.Scripting: Proficiency in Python or C++ within the context of Unreal Engine.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Pixel Streaming (essential for web-based Gen AI avatars).Familiarity with real-time ray tracing and DLSS optimization.
The Successful Applicant
The Role: You will bridge the gap between static models and lifelike AI interaction. This role focuses on creating a library of modular animations and implementing procedural Responsibilities
4. Rigging: Build and maintain complex character rigs with a focus on facial clusters and skeletal hierarchy.
5. Core Animation: Create "Idles," "Listening states," and "Gestures" that feel natural during long periods of AI processing.
6. Retargeting: Clean up and retarget Motion Capture (Mocap) data onto custom character skeletons.
7. Lip-Sync: Work with the engineering team to ensure facial blendshapes respond accurately to AI-generated phonemes/audio.
Technical Requirements
8. Software: Expert-level Maya or Blender animation skills.
9. Unreal Engine: Deep knowledge of Control Rig, Sequencer, and the Animation Blueprint system.
10. Physics: Experience with cloth and hair simulation (Chaos physics) to add secondary motion.
Preferred Qualifications
11. Experience with Live Link Face or other facial mocap solutions.
12. An understanding of "The Uncanny Valley" and how to avoid it through subtle micro-expressions.
