Role Summary
The Institute of Technology department at Bersham Road, Wrexham, is seeking an experienced Instructor Demonstrator in Electrical Installation to support the delivery of high‑quality practical learning. You will help learners develop the practical skills, confidence and professional behaviours needed to progress into employment, apprenticeships or further study.
Responsibilities
* Support and deliver practical electrical workshop sessions.
* Demonstrate safe and effective working methods, prepare tools, materials and equipment.
* Work closely with the course team to support learner progress.
* Develop learners’ technical skills in electrical installation methods, containment systems, wiring techniques, safe isolation awareness, inspection preparation and general workshop procedures.
* Maintain a safe, clean and well‑organised workshop environment.
* Assist with learner supervision and record keeping where required.
* Ensure learners achieve high standards in their practical work.
* Adhere to Coleg Cambria’s guidelines on Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Quality.
Essential Requirements
* Qualified to a minimum of Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation or a professionally relevant subject area.
* Relevant commercial or domestic electrical installation experience.
* Ability to confidently demonstrate practical electrical installation skills and safe working practices to learners.
* Ability to support the planning and delivery of effective practical workshop sessions that enhance learning.
* Demonstrated understanding of current developments within electrical installation and building services, and ways of keeping up to date with such developments.
* Awareness of the importance of quality standards within teaching, learning and assessment.
* Good level of IT competence, and willingness to learn new IT packages and systems.
* Ability to deal promptly and effectively with inappropriate behaviour in the classroom or workshop.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support learners with a range of practical abilities.
* Ability to maintain a safe, clean and well‑organised practical working environment.
Welsh Language
Welsh skills are essential for this specific post. We encourage applications in Welsh and provide Welsh language training and incentive payments for bilingual delivery and services.
Legal Requirements
This role is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order and is classed as regulated activity. It requires an Enhanced DBS with Barred List check, and applicants must disclose all cautions and convictions, including spent ones. Disclosure will not automatically prevent employment; a risk assessment will be carried out and convictions may be deemed unsuitable for work with children.
